Vincents boosts charity’s fundraising initiative

Vincents has helped to boost vital donations to St. Catherine’s Hospice as part of a national fundraising initiative.

The firm’s offices in Lytham, Longridge, Garstang, Preston and Penwortham took part in Wills Week, waiving their usual will writing fees in return for a donation to the hospice. The campaign resulted in an impressive £20,883 being raised for the charity, with Vincents contributing over 25 per cent of the total.

St Catherine's, which relies on the public to raise £3.7m every year, will use the money to fund specialised care for those facing life-shortening conditions in the local community.

Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice and campaign organiser, said: “This has been our most successful Wills Week to date. We’re thrilled with the total amount raised and would like to thank all of the firms that took part across the region.

“Vincents has made an outstanding contribution so we are very grateful to the solicitors who gave up their time to help us, using their skills and expertise to support St Catherine's."

Chris Matthews at Vincents added: “Wills Week is a fantastic initiative that we’re proud to support. Not only does it help raise money for the hospice, but encourages people to think about drawing up a will and getting their affairs in order at a time when all is well.

“During the week, we helped people to draw up 49 wills, which resulted in over £5,000 being donated to a very worthwhile cause.”

St Catherine’s Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care to those with life-limiting illnesses. It relies on annual charitable donations of £3.7m to continue to provide its services free of charge. Anyone wishing to donate can contribute via cash, cheque or credit card or by leaving a legacy in their will.
