Fylde coast family team expansion for Vincents Solicitors
Senior associate John Ferguson specialises in divorce, finance and childcare cases
Vincents Solicitors is expanding its family law team with the appointment of a new senior associate for the Fylde coast. John Ferguson is a highly experienced divorce lawyer who specialises in financial remedy and childcare arrangements for separating couples.
A solicitor for 13 years, and family law specialist for more than 20, John also has considerable expertise in handling pre- and post-nuptial agreements, co-habitation and separation agreements, injunctions and domestic abuse cases, and care proceedings. He is Family Law Accredited and a Legal Aid Supervisor.
Despite the advent of no fault divorce, and more petitions being dealt with without a solicitor, there has been a 13 per cent increase in the number of financial remedy cases going before the courts. Expanding the team’s capacity to support these clients is, therefore, crucial according to Mark Mosley, head of Vincents Family law department.
“Despite moves towards making divorce easier, financial remedy remains an incredibly complex and often intimidating process. Clients need a solicitor who understands how the valuation of tangible and non-tangible marital assets will be addressed, and who can navigate the legal considerations and extensive case law which will influence the final settlement,” said Mark.
“John’s experience and reputation in financial remedy is considerable and, together with his broader knowledge of all areas of family law, he is the ideal fit for our team. Working alongside myself and senior children law experts Val Shaw and Fahrat Unissa to support clients across the department, John will also be a great resource for upcoming specialists Beth Laws and Chloe Santoni as they develop the family law team in Lytham.”
John will be based in Vincents’ Garstang office and will be available to clients from across Wyre, Blackpool and the wider Fylde coast. He joins Vincents from Inghams in Cleveleys where he spent the last nine years. Prior to that he was at Barker Booth and Eastwood in Blackpool, and in Yorkshire, Ramsdens and Last Cawthra Feather, and Crombie Wilkinsons.
