Vincents invests in recruitment and business support
New recruitment lead appointed to drive talent acquisition
A Lancashire law firm is making a major investment in its business support and recruitment in preparation for a new phase of growth.
Vincents Solicitors has brought in new recruitment lead Jack Wood, and launched a new business administration apprenticeship programme, as part of its continuity strategy.
The investment aligns with the firm’s commitment to attracting and developing talent to support long-term and sustainable growth, within a supportive work environment.
Phillip Gilmore, Vincents Solicitors managing director, said: “A successful law firm, providing its clients with the very best service, has a strong and motivated team behind it; employees who love their job and want to do the best for their clients and colleagues.
“We have some of the best senior practitioners in their field and an exciting team of junior lawyers coming up behind them, learning from them, improving through professional training, and excelling in their own way. We want to continue to identify and attract the very best talent across each of our departments and geographic areas, and Jack’s role is key to helping achieve this.”
Vincents has brought recruitment in house for the first time, demonstrating a clear focus on talent acquisition and development. Jack will work alongside HR lead Katie Elsworth and Training Principal Yasmine Dragan to provide new recruits with a clear training and development pathway within the business, enabling them to grow and thrive.
Jack, who has worked in Legal and Automotive recruitment for the last three years, also has a law degree from the University of Lancashire, something which gives him a unique perspective.
He said: “The biggest thing I hear from people on the job lookout, is that they are looking for a better working environment – somewhere with a workload and hours that actually allow for a life outside the office.
“That’s not always easy, especially in the legal sector where people genuinely care about what they do and take real pride in making a difference, and so find it difficult to switch off.
“We’re keeping that front and centre when we’re hiring, employees aren’t just a cog in a machine, they’re a person with family, friends and hobbies. That richness helps make them the professional they are, we value and support that individuality and will play our part in making sure they have the skills, knowledge and environment to thrive.”
The firm is also training up its own support staff, ensuring a strong succession plan for non-legal functions such as business development, accounts, human resources, and customer services roles across its seven offices.
Sonny Hale and Esme McDowell have joined Vincents as the first Business Administration Apprentices. Sonny is working in the accounts department at the Preston headquarters in Winckley Square, while Esme is based at Vincents’ Lytham office assisting on both reception and within the Conveyancing team based there.
Katie Elsworth, HR lead, said: “This programme provides an introduction to working in a law firm and the opportunity to carve out a tailored career path with us, playing to their strengths and interests. We’ll be strengthening other key business areas with further apprenticeships throughout 2026 and beyond.”
Current vacancies are advertised on the Vincents Solicitors website but the firm is also keen to receive proactive approaches from legal professionals looking for a new challenge.
Jack added: “We want to hear from people who want to work for us. We’re happy to build a team around someone who brings ambition and empathy to their work, who wants to benefit from being with a mid-size law firm with a big heart, where staff work together, where personal development and giving back are part of the culture, and where your own efforts determine yours and the firm’s ongoing success.”
