Personal injury Drop In clinic launched

Vincents offers on-the-spot appointments for victims

Victims of accidents at work and in public places, or those affected by clinical negligence, can see if they have a case at a new Drop In clinic being launched by Vincents Solicitors in Preston. The on-the-spot appointments will be available every Tuesday morning from 10am to 12 noon at the firm’s head office in Winckley Square.

The move is designed to meet the needs of some of the thousands of people injured in the workplace, out on the street, in supermarkets and restaurants, train stations and museums every year. The sessions are also open to patients and families of people let down by healthcare providers, but who often don’t know whether they can pursue a claim.

The city centre clinic will also provide a ‘high-street’ style service which the team feels is often missing in busy urban areas. Director Olivia Robinson, Head of the Employer and Public Liability and Clinical Negligence departments, said: “Becoming the victim of an injury or illness due to something beyond your control is sadly incredibly common. Thousands of people are injured at work or while they are out and about, and yet more are let down by medics.

“Unfortunately people often don’t know exactly what they can do about it and miss out on vital help they are entitled to, and sometimes approaching a solicitor about making a claim can feel quite intimidating. The idea behind the clinic is to create a more informal atmosphere for people to talk about what has happened to them, their concerns, and get an idea about what could be done for them.

“As well as helping to secure the compensation they deserve, we can provide support to find the best treatment and help them plan for the future. We also hope that by taking action, the employers and organisations at fault can address problems and make improvements.”

Tracy Stanbridge, Senior Litigation Executive at Vincents with more than 15 years’ experience of accident at work cases, was keen to establish the clinic to address a particular problem. She said: “People often drop in for a chat at high street branches, but there’s an assumption that wouldn’t be welcome at head office. This is simply not the case and we are happy to see anyone who wants to pop in for an informal conversation.

“People living and working in the city centre should have the same access to all of the personal legal services that the high street branches offer, and here at Vincents we provide everything from personal injury, and family law, to divorce and conveyancing right alongside the corporate and commercial work.”

Highly experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor, Deborah Harrison, added: “We know it can be hard to take that first step, so many people are worried they won’t be taken seriously, or they’re ‘making a fuss’.

“The Drop In clinic offers a specific time and day for anyone with any concerns about an incident, to come and talk to a professional. And, if you can’t make a Tuesday morning, pop by anytime and we’ll give you the information you need to decide what is the right course of action for you.”

The Vincents Solicitors Personal Injury Drop In Clinic starts on Tuesday March 5th 2019 from 10am to 12noon and will run weekly.
