Vincents' support for £15million Chester hotel project

Plans have been unveiled for a new five-star aparthotel in the heart of Chester by developer Walker and Williams.

The £15m investment would see the transformation of an old office complex in Nicholas Street into a 52-suite hotel complete with a restaurant, a roof top pool and terrace overlooking the city’s historic racecourse.

Planning permission has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council which also include the restoration of 11 cottages, mews and townhouses as part of the project.

Craig Aikman, Vincents’ Head of Property, has been working with developer Max Walker-Williams over recent years to secure funding and legal agreements for a series of projects across the North West, including the Chester scheme which is set to become the Preston-based firm’s flagship scheme.

Max Walker-Williams said: "The plans for Nicholas Street have been a long time in the making and I'm delighted that the planning application for our flagship aparthotel is now up and running.

"We’ve been in discussions about the project with the council, LEP, Marketing Cheshire and others for several months to make sure we get the new aparthotel just right for Chester.

"We have worked really hard to bring something unique and exceptional to Chester that will offer visitors something different and provide a reason for them to stay for longer in the city than they currently do.

"The encouragement and support that we have had so far has been tremendous. There is a clear desire from the Council and others to see new investment like ours come forward now and I can’t wait to hear what people think of our vision.”
