Wills Week 13 - 17 November

Vincents signs up to Wills Week for St Catherines

Team hopes to smash last year’s total

Private client lawyers at Vincents Solicitors are gearing up for Wills Week 2018, and five days of fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice. From November 13 to 17, anyone wanting to make or update their will is asked to pay a donation to the charity approximate to the usual cost.

Last year Vincents contributed £5,000, almost fifth of the total £27,000 raised by the fundraiser which involves various law firms across the county. The money goes towards helping the Leyland-based hospice provide care and support for both patients and their families.

Vincents has private client solicitors available in all of its six Lancashire offices taking part in Wills Week. Clients and members of the public wanting to donate can make an appointment at Longridge, Garstang, Chorley, Penwortham, Lytham and Winckley Square, Preston.

Lisa Lodge, head of the Garstang office and a senior private client solicitor, said: “It’s one of those things people put off but it is really important to make sure your wishes are documented officially. The St Catherines’ Wills Week is a good reminder and a great opportunity for people to get their affairs in order while helping a fantastic cause. Hopefully we can beat last year’s incredible total of £5,000.

“We’ll also be talking to people about legacy giving, whereby people leave some money to a charity in the will, and discuss what other plans they have in place for the future, such as lasting power of attorney which kicks in if they become incapacitated. We have experienced private client solicitors in each of our offices who can help make the process as simple as possible.”

Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, added: “Wills Week is a very important initiative for us – last year it raised more than £27,000, and really helps in our ongoing efforts to raise £3.5million of the £5.2million needed to run the charity every single year. The support we receive from Vincents is very much appreciated, and helps us to continue providing our specialist care and support to local families affected by life-shortening illnesses.

“Wills Week not only helps raise vital funds, but allows us to raise awareness amongst supporters about the importance and benefits of making a will and planning for the end of life.”
