Local Authority Negligence leads to a Slip on Black Ice

X sustained injuries to his neck, shoulder, back and right elbow when he slipped on a pavement that was covered in ice. X successfully pursued a claim against his local county council who had over the Christmas period carried out emergency repairs to a leak from a manhole cover but the Council had failed to carry out repairs properly and the water continued to leak onto the pavement. Given the severe winter conditions at the time of this accident the water that had leaked turned into black ice which was not visible on the pavement. The Council accepted full responsibility for our client’s accident and he made a successful claim in the sum of £2,050.00.
